Description:

We will reveal powerful mental math techniques that allow you to perform calculations in your head quickly and effortlessly. You will learn to compute faster than you ever imagined, and with practice, your ability to retain and manipulate numbers will improve significantly. These techniques will not only enhance your mathematical skills but also enable you to perform impressive mental feats that will amaze your friends, colleagues, and teachers. Most importantly, you will discover that math can be fun, engaging, and deeply rewarding.

Too often, math is taught as a set of rigid rules, leaving little room for creativity and exploration. However, as you will see in this course, many problems can be solved in multiple ways. By breaking down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts, we can simplify calculations and uncover clever shortcuts. We also learn to spot patterns and special features that make problem-solving more efficient. These strategies are not just valuable for mathematics — they serve as critical thinking skills that can be applied to problem-solving in everyday life.

One often-overlooked benefit of mental math is that it sharpens your ability to think quickly and make rapid decisions. Based on our years of teaching experience, we have found that speed and accuracy in mental calculations are essential skills that anyone can develop with proper practice. Like any worthwhile ability, mastering mental math requires dedication and strategic practice — but with the right approach, you can achieve remarkable results.

For students competing in mathematics competitions, slow calculation speed and low accuracy are among the biggest obstacles to success. Our program is designed to equip students with effective problem-solving strategies, boost computational speed, and enhance accuracy, ensuring they are well-prepared to excel in competitive mathematics.

Our Uniqueness

We have a long history of close collaboration with the MAA’American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), which are dedicated to strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth, and are the first of a series of competitions in high school mathematics that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

We are only one in the Washington DC metropolitan area to offer elementary, middle, and high-school level competition math courses. Our students have received top scores and awards at prestigious national and math competitions.

Great Benefits of Math Competitions

In an increasingly competitive college application pool, the process of mastering math skills through our courses and participating in the American Math Competitions will help students strengthen and diversify their extracurricular activities. These contests can motivate students’ interest and passion in math, and they can discover their talent through solving challenging problems different from those in the school classes. Many top colleges also request AMC scores as part of the college application process. Both MIT and Caltech have entry blanks on their official admission application forms for the applicant to enter their best AMC and AIME scores. Ivy League Colleges and Stanford ask for to the AMC and AIME scores in their Supplement to the Common Application Forms. Your children deserve the chance to list these scores on their applications! Good AMC scores will greatly enhance admission opportunities for students to elite colleges.

This year’s AMC 8 contest featured 6 Number Theory problems and 6 Counting & Probability problems. In our 2024 AMC 8/MathCounts Prep Summer Weekend Course focused on Discrete Math, we thoroughly covered these exact areas — including all the problem types that appeared on the 2025 AMC 8. Many of the Discrete Math problems on the test were either identical or very similar to the examples we presented during the course. As a result, our students were well-prepared and confident in applying the powerful techniques they had practiced. This strong alignment is a key reason why our course helps students consistently achieve high scores on the AMC 8.

We update our course handouts every year based on the latest official AMC 8 problem sets. We use deep learning to conduct an in-depth analysis of the thought processes and problem-design patterns of 16 AMC 8 Test Creators, based on their published mathematics problems and research articles. Using these insights, we develop targeted contest-style problems to effectively train our students. Additionally, we carefully select significant past competition problems crafted by these test makers to illustrate key problem-solving strategies in our classes. Notably, some of these selected problems have appeared on the AMC 8 exam, enabling our students to quickly identify the solutions and effortlessly secure an additional 1 to 3 points.

Homework Expectations and Feedback Process:
Students should expect to dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to homework assignments, which are an essential component of our courses, described in the article: Homework assignments are a fundamental part of our courses. Click HERE to view a sample homework set we’ve developed.

Each week, we will review and provide detailed feedback on the homework of three students, rotating through the class to ensure every student receives individualized attention at least once per cycle. After all students have had their work reviewed, the rotation begins again. Based on each week’s reviews, the selected students will also receive personalized recommendations and targeted support to strengthen their skills.

Practice Makes Perfect: The Key to Success
To excel in challenging math competitions like the AMC and MathCounts, there’s no substitute for consistent practice. Just like in sports or music, repetition and effort are essential to mastery. We believe deeply in the power of effort and the malleability of intelligence — any student can dramatically improve through dedication and persistence. With hard work and the right guidance, success is within reach.

Our curriculum is backed by a comprehensive “big data” system that includes all past AMC 8 exams (1985–2025), AMC 10 exams (2000–2024), and MathCounts problems (1990–2025). Using AI-powered data mining and predictive analytics, we’ve analyzed these problems by type, frequency, style, and difficulty. This allows us to identify recurring patterns and fully decode the structure of AMC and MathCounts contests.

We openly share this decoded knowledge with our students, helping them understand not just how to solve problems, but how to recognize and anticipate them. Nearly every recent AMC or MathCounts problem has clear “ancestors” in past contests—and we train students to spot them.

The most effective way to prepare is to practice with real past problems, guided by our system, our methods, and our expert coaching. Let the data — and your effort — work for you.

Main Purpose:

Our primary goal is to help students develop a deep understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts, build a strong foundation, and cultivate the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for long-term academic and professional success. We strongly believe that mastering the fundamentals is the key to lifelong benefits in math and beyond.

Regardless of a student’s current level, we provide a supportive, engaging, and collaborative learning environment where students can explore math with curiosity and confidence. Most importantly, we strive to make learning fun, enjoyable, and enriching, because we believe that students learn best when they are motivated and having a great time.

  • This is a live, interactive class, rather than a pre-recorded one. Instructors actively engage with students by asking questions, and students are encouraged to participate by asking their own questions during class or via email after class.
  • All lessons are recorded, allowing students to review and reinforce their learning through self-study. According to our policy, recorded class videos are strictly available to enrolled students and are not shared with parents.

Our AMC 10/12 Prep courses last summer in Number Theory and Combinatorics comprehensively covered every discrete math topic that appeared on the 2024 AMC 10 and 12 exams. In fact, each discrete-math problem on the 2024 tests was either identical or very similar to examples we worked through in class. This alignment allowed our students to become thoroughly familiar with contest-style questions and to master the most powerful strategies and methods for solving them — exactly why our courses help students achieve top scores on the AMC 10 and 12.

We update our course handouts every year based on the latest official AMC 10 and 12 problem sets. We use deep learning to conduct an in-depth analysis of the thought processes and problem-design patterns of 39 AMC 10 and 12 Test Creators, based on their published mathematics problems and research articles. Using these insights, we develop targeted contest-style problems to effectively train our students. Additionally, we carefully select significant past competition problems crafted by these test makers to illustrate key problem-solving strategies in our classes. Notably, some of these selected problems have appeared on the AMC 10 and 12 exams, enabling our students to quickly identify the solutions and effortlessly secure an additional 6 to 12 points.

We warmly invite you to enroll in our online course — an efficient and effective way for students to engage with experienced instructors from anywhere. Classes are conducted via Google Meet, allowing students to interact face-to-face with teachers, learn proven strategies and shortcuts for excelling on math contests, and receive personalized guidance and support. Students can ask questions in real time and work through problems under the supervision of our expert coaches. Click  HERE for detailed instructions.

Committing to the full course ensures students gain the maximum benefit from all the mathematical concepts, methods, strategies, techniques, and problem-solving skills covered.

  • We aim to help students develop a deeper understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts, build a strong foundation in math, and cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills that go beyond the typical school curriculum. Our program also fosters motivation and perseverance—key traits for reaching one’s full potential.
  • This course emphasizes efficient techniques, shortcuts, and strategies for solving competitive math problems, particularly challenging questions from the AMC 10/12 and introductory-level AIME problems. It also covers essential test-taking tactics.
  • The primary focus will be on a systematic, comprehensive, and in-depth approach to advanced discrete mathematics — specifically number theory, counting, and probability — which are central to competitive math but rarely taught in school settings.
  • We implement a highly effective instructional approach, detailed in the article Small-sized Class Instruction-focused Model.”

Our AMC 12/AIME Precalculus Summer (Evening) Course, held last summer, offered a thorough review of every precalculus topic featured on the 2024 AMC 12 and the 2025 AIME I & II exams. Remarkably, each precalculus problem on these contests was either identical to or closely resembled examples we had worked through in class. This strong alignment allowed students to develop a deep understanding of contest-style problems and master the most effective strategies for solving them — a key reason why our courses consistently help students achieve top scores on both the AMC 12 and AIME.

We update our course handouts annually based on the most recent official AMC 12 and AIME exams. Using advanced deep learning techniques, we analyze the problem-design patterns and reasoning styles of 39 AMC 10 and 12 Test Creators and 10 AIME Test Creators — drawing from their published problems and mathematical research. These insights inform the development of highly targeted, contest-style problems designed to sharpen our students’ skills.

In addition, we carefully curate influential past competition problems authored by these same test writers to demonstrate essential strategies during instruction. Notably, several of these problems have reappeared on recent AMC 12 and AIME exams, allowing our students to recognize them instantly and effortlessly earn an extra 6–12 points on the AMC 12 and 1–2 points on the AIME.

  • This is a live class, not a pre-recorded one. Instructors will ask students questions, and students can also ask questions during the class or email their questions to instructors after class.
  • We record all of our lessons as a big bonus so that our students can watch class videos after class for review and self-study.

Small-sized Class Teaching Model:

We utilize the highly effective small-sized class teaching model. Smaller classes lead to pupils receiving more individual attention from teachers, and having more active interactions with them. We focus on every individual, not the whole class. Students will thrive from the smaller class sizes that allow them to reach their full potential. Particularly, students can benefit tremendously from high-frequent individualized student-teacher interactions leading to establishment of a stronger foundation for lifelong learning.

Our main purpose is to help our students gain deeper understanding of the fundamental math concepts, build a solid foundation in math, and develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are so valuable to success in any career. We are big believers in the FUNDAMENTALS! Our students will receive the LIFELONG BENEFITS from learning math.

IMG_2563_0

Regardless of his/her math level, each student will have the opportunity to learn math in a fun, friendly, cooperative, supportive learning environment. The most important thing is to have fun.

104 Students Qualify for 2024–2025 AIME and 2 Earn Perfect Scores on AMC 10/12

The MAA AMC has officially released the cutoff scores for AIME qualification for the 2024–2025 academic year, along with the thresholds for Distinction and Honor Roll recognition. You can view the full details here: 2025 AIME Qualifying Thresholds .

While we are still waiting on the complete dataset from the MAA AMC, we are excited to report that 104 of our students qualified for the AIME through the AMC 10A/12A and AMC 10B/12B contests.

We are especially proud to recognize two students who achieved perfect scores on these historically difficult exams:

  • Tianyi L. was one of just 12 students worldwide to earn a perfect score on the AMC 10B.

  • Alex W. was one of only 9 students worldwide to achieve a perfect score on the AMC 12B.

According to many experts, this year’s AMC 10A, 10B, 12A, and 12B were the most challenging since the contests were introduced in 2000. These outstanding results are a testament to our students’ talent, determination, and preparation.

Our Uniqueness

We have a long history of close collaboration with the MAA‘s American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), which are dedicated to strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth, and are the first of a series of competitions in high school mathematics that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

We are only one in the Washington DC metropolitan area to offer elementary, middle, and high-school level competition math courses. Our students have received top scores and awards at prestigious national math competitions.

In last year’s AMC 8/Mathcounts Spring Course about geometry, what we comprehensively presented fully covered all the topics of geometry that appeared in the 2024 AMC 8 test. All geometry problems on the 2024 AMC 8 were the same as or very similar to the typical examples demonstrated in our last year’s Spring Course so that our students can become very familiar with them and fully master those powerful strategies and methods to solve them. This is how our course can greatly help our students to get a high score on the AMC 8 contests.

AMC 8-New

You are very welcome to sign up for our online course which offers a quick, efficient way for students to interact with teachers over long distance. We use the Google Meet to video chat and easily connect with students to teach them our tricks and shortcuts to getting an amazing score on their contests, as well as offer them our guidance and support. Students can ask questions face-to-face, and can complete problems with the supervision of our teachers/coaches. Click HERE to see detailed instruction.

commitment to the whole course can maximize the benefit of learning all the math ideas, methods, strategies, tactics, skills, and techniques.

  • We will help students gain a deep understanding of the fundamental math concepts, build a solid foundation in math, and develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills different from those in the school classes, motivation, and perseverance for reaching their full potential.
  • We will utilize a highly effective teaching model as described in the article: Small-sized Class Instruction-focused Model.

Math-Competitions

Specific Goal of the 2026 AMC 8:

To become part of the top 5% of scorers on the AMC 8, and then receive National Honor Roll Certificates.

Specific Goal of the 2025 AMC 10:

To earn a score of 90 or more out of 150 on the AMC 10, and then receive National Achievement Honor Roll Certificates.

Specific Goal of the MathCounts:

To become one of the top winners in the individual competition at the chapter level and then advance to the state competition.

AMC-General

There are many math competitions in the United States. Of those, only

AMC → AIME → USAMO sequence

would take you to the IMO (International Math Olympiad), the highest level math competition for high school students in the world!

amc8

Although the last round of this year’s AMC 8 will be coming at a close on January 22, 2025, we must prepare in advance for the 2025 AMC 8 contest. As the great scientist Louis Pasteur said, “Chance favors only the prepared mind.” Those who strive to prepare early, and work hard are the ones who achieve the best results. The AMC is a complex math competition that requires dedication and focus. Therefore, the earlier our students start preparing, the better their scores will be.

Description:
Our curriculum focuses on advancing the mathematical skills of 5th-8th graders to prepare them for math competitions, such as AMC 8, AMC 10, Mathcounts, Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS), Math Kangaroo, and Math League. A variety of contest questions, including all past official AMC 8 problems, the first 15 problems on each old AMC 10 tests, and MathCounts Competition problems at the school, chapter, state, and national level, are used to teach students strategies to solve problems and help students prepare for the competitions. These problems stimulate their interest and enthusiasm for critical thinking and problem solving, broaden their mathematical intuition, and develop their brainpower. The topics taught in this class are not covered in regular school math classes, allowing our students to stay one step ahead.

Homework:

The focus will be on the final 15 problems on the AMC 8, and the first 15 problems on the AMC 10, as well as those Those medium and hard-level difficulty questions on the MathCounts. We will provide students with 500 brand new problems, extracted from the licensed AMC Database, having similar difficulty and style as the hard real AMC 8 problems.

On average, at least 2 hours per week, as described in the article: Homework assignments are a fundamental part of our courses. Click HERE to see a typical homework sample we developed. Each week, we will carefully review and check 3 students’ homework, and correct any mistakes. The next week, we will check another 3 students’ homework, and this will continue on a rotational basis until all students have had their homework checked at least once and the cycle will start again. Based on the work of the 3 students that week, we will provide the those 3 students with individualized proposal and support. More details can be found in the article: Homework Correction is very Important — We Give an Extensive Correction of the Incorrect Answers of All Homework.

We have to face the simple truth that to do well on these grueling contests, we will need to practice. Just like it is for sports and music, the key to success is repetition and practice. We strongly believe in effort and the malleability of intelligence. Intelligence can be enhanced through effort. People can develop impressive levels of expertise through hard work and practice. Effort and persistence are the keys to success. Hard work always pays off: practice makes perfect!

All problems from past AMC 8 exams (1985-2025),  AMC 10 exams (2000-2024), and MathCounts (1990–2025) form our “big data” system. Based on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and deep learning, we devised a data mining and predictive analytics tool for math problem similarity searching. Using this powerful tool, we examined the types, styles, frequencies, characteristics, and traits of questions in all these materials, and then completely “decoded” the AMC, and MathCounts. We always completely show all the “secret code” cracked from the above big data to our students, and teach them to totally grasp and “control” the AMC and MathCounts. For all questions on the recent AMC/MathCounts contests, we can find their “ancestors” and “roots” from the old AMC/MathCounts problems. Therefore, the best way to prepare for the contest is to practice by solving old AMC/MathCounts problems.

Benefits:

Grade Levels: Grades 4-8

Class Outline:

This class focuses on efficient tricks, shortcuts, and strategies to solve competitive math problems as well as test-taking tactics. The emphasis of this class will be on comprehensively problem-solving in geometry, which is the most important to competitive math. In particular, we will help students use mental math for accurately and quickly solving contest questions in their heads. We reserve the right to adjust the teaching content and pace according to the actual performance of students.

All problems from past AMC 8 exams (1985-2024),  AMC 10 exams (2000-2023), and MathCounts (1990–2024) form our “big data” system.

Description:
Our curriculum focuses on advancing the mathematical skills of 4th-8th graders to prepare them for math competitions, such as AMC 8, AMC 10, Mathcounts, Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS), Math Kangaroo, and Math League.

Benefits:

Grade Levels: Grades 4-8

Homework:

The focus will be on the final 15 problems on the AMC 8, and the first 15 problems on the AMC 10, as well as those Those medium and hard-level difficulty questions on the MathCounts. We will provide students with 300 brand new problems, extracted from the licensed AMC Database, having similar difficulty and style as the hard real AMC 8 problems.

On average, at least 6 hours per week, as described in the article: Homework assignments are a fundamental part of our courses.

All problems from past AMC 8 exams (1985-2024),  AMC 10 exams (2000-2023), and MathCounts (1990–2024) form our “big data” system.

  • This is a live, interactive class, rather than a pre-recorded one. Instructors actively engage with students by asking questions, and students are encouraged to participate by asking their own questions during class or via email after class.
  • All lessons are recordedallowing students to review and reinforce their learning through self-study. According to our policy, recorded class videos are exclusively available to enrolled students and are not distributed to parents.
In last year’s AMC 10/12 Prep spring course about geometry, what we comprehensively presented fully covered all the topics of geometry that appeared in the 2024 AMC 10/12 tests. All geometry problems on the 2024 AMC 10/12 are the same as or very similar to the typical examples demonstrated in our last year’s Spring Course so that our students can become very familiar with them and fully master those powerful strategies and methods to solve them. This is how our course can greatly help our students to get a high score on the AMC 10/12 contests!

AMC 10-12-New

Regardless of his/her math level, each student will have the opportunity to learn math in a fun, friendly, cooperative, supportive learning environment. The most important thing is to have fun.
