Our Uniqueness

We have a long history of close collaboration with the MAA‘s American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), which are dedicated to strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth, and are the first of a series of competitions in high school mathematics that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

We are only one in the Washington DC metropolitan area to offer elementary, middle, and high-school level competition math courses. Our students have received top scores and awards at prestigious national math competitions.

Great Benefits of Math Competitions

In an increasingly competitive college application pool, the process of mastering math skills through our courses and participating in the American Math Competitions will help students strengthen and diversify their extracurricular activities. These contests can motivate students’ interest and passion in math, and they can discover their talent through solving challenging problems different from those in the school classes. Many top colleges also request AMC scores as part of the college application process. Both MIT and Caltech have entry blanks on their official admission application forms for the applicant to enter their best AMC and AIME scores. Ivy League Colleges, Caltech, and Stanford ask for to the AMC and AIME scores in their Supplement to the Common Application Forms. Your children deserve the chance to list these scores on their applications! Good AMC scores will greatly enhance admission opportunities for students to elite colleges.

Why Our Fall Algebra Course Is Different

Our AMC 8/MathCounts Fall Algebra Course goes far beyond teaching standard algebra. Rather than simply presenting formulas and routine exercises, we systematically study the problem types, mathematical structures, and problem-solving techniques that repeatedly appear in major math competitions. Students are trained not only to solve problems, but also to recognize the underlying mathematics and apply the most effective strategy efficiently.

Proven Relevance to the 2026 AMC 8

Our preparation proved highly relevant to the 2026 AMC 8. The 2026 AMC 8 included 13 problems with significant algebraic content:

#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #7, #8, #9, #12, #14, #18, #19, and #22.

Our previous Fall Algebra course had systematically covered the underlying algebraic concepts, problem types, and powerful problem-solving methods behind these questions. Remarkably, many of the 2026 AMC 8 problems were identical or strikingly similar in structure, mathematical ideas, and solution techniques to problems and examples our students had already practiced in class.

This was not simply a matter of predicting individual questions. More importantly, it demonstrated the value of systematic preparation built around recurring mathematical structures and transferable problem-solving techniques.

When students encounter a familiar structure on contest day, they do not have to spend valuable time figuring out how to begin. They can recognize the underlying idea, connect it to a method they have already mastered, and solve the problem more quickly, accurately, and confidently.

That recognition is one of the greatest advantages of serious contest preparation: students learn not merely to solve more problems, but to recognize the mathematics hidden inside new problems.

We Don’t Simply Reuse Old Materials—we Rebuild Them Every Year

Each year, we rebuild and refine our course handouts from the ground up, incorporating the newest AMC 8 problems and the latest developments in competitive mathematics.

We carefully study the work of the 16 official AMC 8 problem writers, including their previous contest problems, published mathematical problems, and research publications. By analyzing the patterns, techniques, and structures behind their problems, we identify the mathematical ideas and problem-solving approaches that are most valuable for students to master.

We then transform these insights into targeted, contest-style problems designed to train students to recognize patterns, select efficient strategies, and solve problems under time pressure.

Train on the Problems Behind the Problems

We also carefully select past AMC 8 problems written by these same problem creators and incorporate the most relevant ones into our training. Some of these problems—or strikingly similar versions—later appear on the AMC 8 itself.

Our analysis of the 2026 AMC 8 provides a concrete example of why this approach matters. In a detailed study of the contest’s geometry problems, we identified multiple recurring problem templates connecting the 2026 AMC 8 to earlier AMC 8, AMC 10, MathCounts, AIME, Japanese middle-school entrance-exam materials, and our own Ivy League Education Center AMC 8 Mock Test. Several problems were identical, while others were closely related variations of earlier problems.

Read our full analysis: “Analysis of the Geometry Problems on the 2026 AMC 8”

This is precisely why pattern recognition and a deep library of proven problem-solving techniques are so important in competition mathematics. When students encounter a familiar structure, they don’t have to start from scratch. They can recognize the underlying idea, recall the appropriate strategy, and move directly toward an efficient solution.

That can make the difference between spending several minutes struggling with a problem and solving it confidently in well under a minute—a crucial advantage on a timed competition such as AMC 8 or MathCounts.

Build an Advantage for AMC 8 and MathCounts

Our Online Fall Algebra Course is designed for students who want more than routine algebra practice. Through carefully structured instruction, targeted practice, and competition-tested problem-solving strategies, students will develop:

  • Strong algebraic fundamentals
  • Advanced problem-solving techniques
  • Pattern and structure recognition
  • Efficient solution strategies
  • Speed and accuracy under time pressure
  • Confidence with unfamiliar contest problems
  • Essential AMC 8 and MathCounts test-taking strategies

AMC 8-New

Join our Online Fall Algebra Course and give your child the opportunity to learn from experienced competition-math instructors, practice carefully selected AMC 8/MathCounts problems, and develop the algebraic reasoning, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence needed to compete at a higher level.

Don’t simply prepare for the next contest. Learn to recognize the mathematics behind it.

Practice Makes Perfect: The Key to Success
To excel in challenging math competitions like the AMC and MathCounts, there’s no substitute for consistent practice. Just like in sports or music, repetition and effort are essential to mastery. We believe deeply in the power of effort and the malleability of intelligence — any student can dramatically improve through dedication and persistence. With hard work and the right guidance, success is within reach.

Our curriculum is backed by a comprehensive “big data” system that includes all past AMC 8 exams (1985–2025), AMC 10 exams (2000–2024), and MathCounts problems (1990–2025). Using AI-powered data mining and predictive analytics, we’ve analyzed these problems by type, frequency, style, and difficulty. This allows us to identify recurring patterns and fully decode the structure of AMC and MathCounts contests.

We openly share this decoded knowledge with our students, helping them understand not just how to solve problems, but how to recognize and anticipate them. Nearly every recent AMC or MathCounts problem has clear “ancestors” in past contests—and we train students to spot them.

The most effective way to prepare is to practice with real past problems, guided by our system, our methods, and our expert coaching. Let the data — and your effort — work for you.

Main Purpose:

Our primary goal is to help students develop a deep understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts, build a strong foundation, and cultivate the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for long-term academic and professional success. We strongly believe that mastering the fundamentals is the key to lifelong benefits in math and beyond.

Regardless of a student’s current level, we provide a supportive, engaging, and collaborative learning environment where students can explore math with curiosity and confidence. Most importantly, we strive to make learning fun, enjoyable, and enriching, because we believe that students learn best when they are motivated and having a great time.

Our Uniqueness

We have a long history of close collaboration with the MAA’American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), which are dedicated to strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth, and are the first of a series of competitions in high school mathematics that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

We are only one in the Washington DC metropolitan area to offer elementary, middle, and high-school level competition math courses. Our students have received top scores and awards at prestigious national and math competitions.

Ivy League Colleges and Stanford ask for to the AMC and AIME scores in their Supplement to the Common Application Forms. Your children deserve the chance to list these scores on their applications! Good AMC scores will greatly enhance admission opportunities for students to elite colleges.

  • This is a live, interactive class, rather than a pre-recorded one. Instructors actively engage with students by asking questions, and students are encouraged to participate by asking their own questions during class or via email after class.
  • All lessons are recorded, allowing students to review and reinforce their learning through self-study. According to our policy, recorded class videos are strictly available to enrolled students and are not shared with parents.

In last fall’s AMC 10/12 Comprehensive Problem-Solving Course, we systematically covered the full range of topics tested on the 2025 AMC 10 and AMC 12 exams—including algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and probability. Remarkably, many of the actual contest problems—particularly the more challenging ones—were identical to or closely mirrored problems, methods, and strategies that students had already mastered in our classes. As a result, our students entered the exams with exceptional familiarity with contest-style problems and a well-developed toolkit of powerful problem-solving techniques. That preparation translates directly into results: our course has consistently helped students achieve top scores.

Each year, we update our course handouts using the latest official AMC 10 and 12 problem sets. We analyze the thought processes and problem-design patterns of 39 AMC 10 and 12 Test Creators, drawing insights from their published contest problems and mathematical research. This lets us craft highly targeted, contest-style problems that train students with precision and confidence.

We also handpick key past competition problems from these same test creators—many of which later appear on the AMC 10 and 12 exams. For our students, that means instant recognition, faster solutions, and often an extra 6–12 points on test day—giving them a real edge over the competition.

Ivy League Colleges and Stanford ask for to the AMC and AIME scores in their Supplement to the Common Application Forms. Your children deserve the chance to list these scores on their applications! Good AMC scores will greatly enhance admission opportunities for students to elite colleges.
